Our Weekend Getaway - Saturday Noon to Midnight

Right around noon, we arrived at COSI (Center of Science and Industry), starved and excited.

COSI Exhibit & Building Map

We waited in line, paid for admission, and quickly went to their food court. Jose and I were both pleasantly surprised with the deliciousness (I totally had to google how to spell that!) of the food. I had a buffalo chicken wrap with chili and he had a ham and swiss croissant with vegetable soup.

After eating, we went to the first exhibit: Space.

There Jose was able to navigate some little robots like those used on the moon or mars, to learn the dynamics of rockets, see what astronauts wear and eat and their living quarters while in space, and so much more fun things.

After space, we made our way to the live adventure that we scheduled for 1:00 PM. We were given the task to follow a series of clues to find this code to find out the secret of knowledge. It was crazy complicated and in order to not spend our entire day in the maze finding clues, we kinda cheated and found the secret of knowledge before leaving around 2:00 PM.

Then the next exhibit, possibly my favorite: Geckos.

In a corner of the exhibit, there was a Herpetology club set up with the opportunity to pet a couple of very large lizards and hold a snake. We stood in line to get our photo taken holding the large python. So awesome!

Next exhibit stop: The Ocean.

This was a random lil' exhibit that allowed a lot of playing with water. Things like floating balls on streams of water, shooting water from statues, making waves in a tank, etc. The weirdest part was the couple that was having their engagement photos taken as we walked through the exhibit. Hehe. We tried to make up reasons that they would decide to have engagement photos taken at the museum.

Oh yea, and I had to have a little bit of photo fun in the "submarine" part of the exhibit....hehe.

After the ocean exhibit, we headed up to the second floor to continue on our way. Next exhibit: Gadgets. There we read a ton of random fun facts, looked at laser things and tube things with balls, played with magnets and electricity and did science experiment type things.

The next exhibit was quite cool as well: Progress. Basically, it was two sets of two city streets of this "town" of Progress. The first was in the 1898 and the second was 1962. It was interesting to compare the differences between the years.

Soon after that, and a quick trip to the gift shop to find something for the kids (we got these awesome stuffed lizards with magnets in their feet so they can hang on the fridge!), we headed out to find our hotel.

It was a quick trip through downtown Columbus and a short trek up a highway, but soon we arrived and checked in. We dropped some things off in our room before heading out to a nearby Mexican restaurant for dinner and a nice discussion. After eating, we resumed to our room, where we spent the rest of the night between the hot tub and lying around watching television.

Around 11 PM, we decided we were a little hungry and decided to venture out (but first, took a quick photo in the parking lot).

We tried to go to Tim Hortons, after hearing our pastor talk about its wonders, but despite the "Open 24 Hours" sign, they were not open, so, we turned around and ended up at Waffle House where some amazing conversations occurred. And, we finished up and headed back to our room right around midnight...

Being from Canada, and a Tim Horton's connoisseur, I recommend a sour cream donut...mmmmmm! and a regular coffee (single cream & sugar med. coffee). I actually don't like their coffee without the additions (I'm a coffee snob), BUT their pastries are AMAZING! If you go for the Timbits, I recommend the chocolate glazed, sour cream, and apple fritter combo. mmmmmm! again ;-) Also, next time, I'll put in a special order and we can meet up when you get back. We make the stop at that Tim Horton's whenever we visit Greg's daughter in Springfield, OH. I miss my Timmies down here :( So, please bring me back a sour cream donut next time! hee hee :)
