My Big Boy

Today, we had Teo's 2-year checkup. So many changes, and so many things that are still on course in the same way. Checkups always remind me of how much my kids are growing, and, in my opinion, it's far too quickly!

So, although it's a month or so late (since he actually turned two), here we go:

  • Teo is large. I am constantly amazed by how big he is. The doctor laughed at his size, but reassured that he was still in a healthy bracket. He weighs 30.5 lbs and is 36.25" tall. He's in the 75th and the 90th percentiles.
  • He is very shy and self conscious. I have never seen a kid so aware and unapproving of nakedness. He demands that we put his pants on after every diaper change and he had a fit at the doctor's office when he needed to remove all his clothes.
  • His language is blooming. He is "lazy" about his speech, which I find cute. Words like "hair" are pronounced "herrrrr" and "more" is said "merrrrr". He is starting to use more phrases and we are starting to even get small sentences.
  • He is large. I giggle whenever I look at his clothing tags. Generally he is wearing a 4 or 5T shirt and 3T pants.
  • His sense of humor is fantastic! He loves to hide and jump out. He pretends to be a monster and growls at ya. We play games where we "eat" body parts off each other and then spit them out for "reassembly".
  • He is musical. For Christmas, he got a drumset and in all honesty, he may hold a beat better than me! He loves to dance and actually does okay at Just Dance games on the wii. He even sang me a song today. (I had NO CLUE what he was singing, but he sure was singing!)
  • He is able to count to five (with assistance) and can sing mumble his abcs if you sing them. He likes to build towers and play with blocks.
  • He is photogenic, but hates having his photo taken. Mainly because it requres him to stand still for more than three seconds!
  • He is go-go-go all the time. Seriously, the kid exhausts me. Plus, he's in his "test the limits" phase, so he requires extra supervision and extra energy to chase him (as he runs towards the street or climbs on stuff that could kill him if he fell).
  • Teo is also my cuddle bug. He is a big kisser, a wonderful hugger, and will sit on my lap (sometimes) forever! When he crawls into the bed in the middle of the night, I'm usually woken up by him stroking my cheek, rubbing my back, or playing with my hair.
I love my Tator Tot (or as friends lovingly call him, "Potato")!
