I never expected so much drama at home with a five year old. I swear, this kid has her heart set on ruining my day within the first five minutes that I am awake.
Her attitude has gotten crazy and I am just at the end of the rope, so I know that often, I make it worse once she starts. I surely don't make it better.
She still wakes up at the crack of dawn, however, now, once she's awake, she comes in my bed and talks to me, whines to me, argues with me while I am sleeping. It doesn't matter what we are talking about, she wants to fight. And the worst part is, I'm still asleep essentially, so then she blows up at me when I'm not making sense.
Her blowouts are ridiculous. For her age, she is so much more than this behavior. She will get in your face, growl at you, give you a banshee wail, stomp her feet, kick walls, squeal, stomp, throw stuff. It's nuts.
Today, when I got home, Jose put her in timeout. However, since she wasn't taking the standard timeout seriously, she was required to hold a dvd case against the wall over her head. She stopped yelling pretty quickly and decided that getting out of timeout was no longer a joke.
I'm just exhausted from the fighting with her. And I know that in a few mere hours, we will go through it all again...ugh.
Just for the sake of explaining how stupid the morning arguements are, here's an example. Starting a couple of days ago, she has decided that she's going to argue with me about breakfast. We continually have four options for cereal on the counter. She insists that she wants to buy breakfast at school (so, pay over a dollar for cereal each day?!Uh. NO!) and she will begin fighting with me as soon as she wakes up. So, today, I was over it. Fine, I told her. Fine. Do whatever you want about breakfast. I'm pretty sure I mumbled some other crap, but she realized that I gave up on that fight (pick your battles right?!), so she went to play with some things. About 10 or 15 minutes later, I officially woke up and we began our routine of clothes, teeth, socks and shoes, etc. When it was about three minutes until her bus came, she stopped, dead serious. Spun on her heels to face me and said, "I changed my mind. I want to eat cereal here afterall." Uhhh, nope kid. Too late. Go to school. Eat there if you want. I was ready to chase her puny butt all the way to the corner! Argh!!!
