I haven't posted about coupons lately...mostly because I haven't been able to do much shopping lately. But, I'm baaaackkk! I am ready to do this every week to rebuild our stock pile (the one that has allowed us to live for about 3 months (since before Thanksgiving) without buying much more than staples!
So, tonight, I returned to the store alone. I may decide to do all my coupon shopping alone from now on. It was good me-time and was much less stressful than dealing with two tired and bored kids and an impatient husband (although he does love the savings).
I'm pretty satisfied with our success tonight. I definately think it was a success. I bought our normal staples: 2 gallons of milk, carrots (organics were on sale! whoot!), grapes, strawberries, bananas, and lettuce.
I also bought 18 (!!!) boxes of cereal for about $1.30 each. Isa has reached a phase where she eats cereal at least two times a day, as does her daddy. It's hard to keep it stocked!
I also got 12 cans of Chef Boyardee pasta, 12 boxes of Kleenex (donations for our church), 3 large pizzas and one individual one, 4 bags of Skittles, 4 Dove body washes, 4 packets of alfredo sauce mix, 2 bottles of teriyaki glaze, and 6 sippy cups (not a sale item or a coupon item, but we've fallen habit to leaving them everywhere, so we needed some).
Whew, I totally just had a freak out because I lost my receipts (and the ONYOs)...but no worries, I found the ONYO's and one receipt.
Total spent: First order was $8. Second order was $64. Total of $72.
Total saved: I lost the receipt for the first order, so I'm not sure. Second order was $57.
Plus, $3 in ONYOs.
Not too shabby. At least, in my opinion.

I envy you. I'm coupon challenged. I lack the ability to shop creativly! You are so good at the things you do! I hope Jose knows it!
Nicely done! I'm sure your familiar with the coupon show on TLC "Extreme Couponing" ? I was envious of the organization and money savings these people pulled off.
Looks like you have a knack for it as well.

Esther, I dunno if it's shopping creatively or not...I've dumbed the whole couponing thing up quite a bit! I am a very lazy couponer, because the extra $20 saved is worth a little bit of my time, but it's not worth a lot of my time to save $30, if that makes sense! I utilize a couple of coupon sites which do matchups for the two or three stores that I go to and that's IT!
Lil' Sophie, first off, HELLO! Secondly, I have seen the show. It was a little dramatic and very unrealistic. The most I've done is filled up two carts (and that's because when the hubs and I both go, we have two kids and both want to sit in the cart, so it's just less hassle to do two carts). I do however, have a coupon binder and all that, but don't order from coupon clipping services. I order four sets of inserts a week and that's it.
Thanks for the love ladies!
