Mrs. Happy

[As an afterthought, I added photos of the pages that I completed...scroll down to see them now.]

In my last therapy session, the counselor asked me what makes me happy. I had to think really hard about it. It had to be what made ME happy...not what made anyone else happy. Not what I did with others to make me happy. What I could do to make me happy. What makes me happy? After a lot of thought, I had my answer.

Progress. Feeling accomplishment. Completing a project.

Today, I was able to do a little bit of that.

My mom's birthday was yesterday and as her gift, I registered the both of us for an all day scrapbooking event hosted by my pastor's wife who is a consultant for Creative Memories.

So, last night, I packed up a ton of scrapbook supplies that haven't been touched since New Year's and this morning, when the alarm went off, I hopped out of bed and got ready. The event started at 9 AM. We were fed lunch and dinner and a ton of snacks. There were competitions and challenges. And, when it ended at 9 PM, I had successfully completed 11 pages (left and right sides).

I was able to finish up all our photos from our trip to Myrtle Beach in 2008 and many other summer photos from the same year. I think that I could catch up to current photos if I did 12 hours of scrapbooking each week....hehe...otherwise, I'm doomed to be behind forever!

Either way, it was good to start with no pages done and to leave feeling like I made progress. Feeling accomplishment. And feeling like I completed a project, at least eleven little ones that lead toward completing a larger project.

So I am feeling pretty happy.

What about you? What makes you smile? What makes your day?

The mention of SC, ahhhh home! I think I stopped scrapbooking when Gabby was 1 or 2. I don't even think about it unless I need to use my cutter to trim cut out Gabby's school pictures.....
