I'm not sure, right now, if the title of this blog refers more to me or the woman that works here at the hotel. Either way, it's not pretty.
My morning was frustrating. Nothing major, just some stuff with Jose. I hate when there's not open communication, when he gets mad about certain things, and when I feel helpless. To add to it all, he's at work at we couldn't argue it out or even discuss it unless it was during one of his short breaks or via text.
Then, I made the drive from home to Toledo-ish area for a U.B. Conference. I found the hotel fairly easily and went to check-in around 3:15 PM. Good timing, if ya ask me. However, it may have been better to wait.
I arrived and told her I had a reservation. The reservation I made was for a king bed room. She said they didn't have any. No big deal. I actually wanted a room with two beds, but over the phone was told that they didn't have anything but a king. So, she gives me a room with two double beds. Good deal. I do the whole check-in process and go to my room.
As I settle in, I realize that the room doesn't have a fridge and microwave, like I was told on the phone. I assume that it's because I'm not in one of the rooms with a king bed, so I call and ask. She says that none of their rooms have refridgerators or microwaves in the 8 or so years since she's worked here. I also mention that the tv doesn't have a remote.
It really isn't anything more than a nuisance to not have a remote, but still, it's a HOTEL....so I wanna be pampered. So, she tells me to go to the front desk and get a universal remote. When I get there, she tells me these crazy directions (it involved holding one button until the light blinked, then pushing another button repeatedly until the channel changed, then hitting the mute button, turning off the tv and turning it back on again). At first, I couldn't even get the tv to turn on with the button on the face of it. Then once I did, I tried the crazy setting directions. Needless to say, it didn't work, so I called the front desk again. She came to the room and tried to do it. No go. She went to another room and stole the remote and tried to set it. Again, no go. But it did at least blink, so she returned to the front desk and told me to hit the button repeatedly until it changed channels, at least for five minutes. So I did, but it still didn't work. She returned to my room with a different type of universal remote, which still didn't work.
At that point, she informed me that "maybe this tv doesn't work with these remotes" and she persisted in messing with them, until she too grew tired of it and eventually agreed to just let me switch rooms.
My next (and current) room has a nice large tv, that works, and has a remote! Yay!
