Sleeping Beauty

I don't know what has happened to me...it's like some evil witch set a spell on me, causing me to fall asleep. I went to sleep a little late last night, but not any later than normal, and we slept until 9:30 a.m. (Sorry, Pastor Tim! We weren't quite "wide eyed and bushy tailed" for church today, but at least we got there!)

Despite the fact that I was intrigued by the sermon and was lovin' it, I kept yawning and my eyes were so tired. When we left, I begged Jose asked Jose to drive. He said no, so I started the trek to my mom's house in a nearby town to pick up our kiddos. He said I made a big deal about it, so he told me to stop and pull over so he could drive. I didn't argue. I was seriously tired. Despite my urge to curl up in the passenger seat and snooze, I felt guilty that he was driving, so I stayed awake. I also managed to stay awake at my mom's house the entire time most of the time. I fell asleep in her recliner the last twenty minutes or so that we were there.

When we left my mom's house around 2:30 pm, I asked Jose to drive again. He said no, so we started off towards home with him in the passenger seat, the kids in the back and me driving. The entire time, the only thing keeping my eyes from closing was the thought of this thing on the news about how many people fall asleep while driving and when they are exhausted.

My internal conversation went like this:
"You shouldn't be driving."
"I know, but Jose's being a jerk. I asked..."
"You shouldn't be driving."
"I slept good last night; I can't be that tired."
"Focus on the road. Focus on the road."
"Keep your eyes open."
"You shouldn't be driving."

When Jose piped up and offered to drive, I didn't argue...too much. So, I pulled over at the gas station and before we were five miles down the road, I was snoozing. And when we arrived home about a half hour later, I didn't realize it because I was still snoozing. I woke up when Jose slammed his car door. We came into the house...I tucked Teo in for a nap, Isa went upstairs to eat popcorn and watch a movie, Jose stayed on the couch and laid down, and I snuggled into my bed to fall back asleep. That was midafternoon.

At some point, Teo woke up and went to join Isa playing in her room. They came in and talked to me, laid with me, every so often. And eventually, they went downstairs to wake up Daddy. I heard the wii playing, so I fell back to sleep. Around 6:30 pm, I woke up.

I could have slept for hours more. I could go to bed right now and fall asleep. I feel like a wicked queen drugged me with sleeping potions, but wish I could remember the story line to know how to fix this...maybe I just need a kiss from my prince charming. That's what works in all the fairy tales, right?

HAHAHA well, when our princes are being charming... that usually works! I hope you weren't driving off the side of the road Ms. Carla! Get sleep and watch your diet... too much sugar does that to me often. Or you should maybe get checked for Mono. I've heard of a few people around FW that have it recently!

I have been sleeping, that's what is so crazy about it! My diet is horrible. :( I need to eat better, I agree. I don't do much sugar anymore though...since I was diabetic with Teo's pregnancy, we've switched to diet sodas, and I try to eat less junk...And I doubt it's mono...doesn't that give you a sore throat? I wonder if it's because of that wonderful female time or if it's just from the season change and time change...
